One Path, Many Options

We offer a range of retreats, including Introductory Weekends every other month, Silent Meditation Intensives every other month, and Weeklong Retreats approximately four times a year for a deeper dive. 

Whether you’re new to meditation or you want to get back to it, get going with one of the Ease In weekend retreats. If you feel ready for a little more intensity, look for On Path retreats that fit with your schedule. The teachings we use on meditation are drawn predominately from the tradition of shamatha, a Sanskrit word  that means peaceful abiding. Shamatha predates Buddhism and has been practiced by people of many different spiritual traditions for thousands of years.

Shamatha helps us make friends with ourselves. Through peaceful abiding meditation, we can process and heal difficult emotions. It brings out our natural stability, clarity, and strength of mind and heart. For many, it’s a source of grounding and resiliency in life. 

As practice progresses, particularly in the Weeklong Retreats, we bring in gentle vipashyana or “insight” techniques as well, which invite curiosity into the nature of our minds and experience and express the profound freedom of the Buddhist view, while again, remaining open to people of all walks of life and not requiring one to be a Buddhist.

In modern times, shamatha and vipashyana techniques have often been the inspiration for secular mindfulness approaches, as well as core elements of Buddhist practice.

The Path of Meditation is designed to support you according to your own wishes, with no prerequisites or commitments required.  It’s about your practice, as you see fit, and we’re here to help however we can. We welcome and respect a wide range of interests and motivations.

  • Monthly Meditation Circles first Mondays at 7pm Mtn. 
  • Individual Meditation Meetings by appointment

These online options provide a sense of community and continuity in between retreats. They are based on the practice of generosity; donations of any amount are accepted with gratitude. Loden, Dhi, and Tricia offer virtual Meditation Meetings by appointment. These are opportunities to connect one-on-one and discuss your meditation practice, including any questions, concerns, or insights you’re experiencing. Registration coming soon.

Loden Nyima

Gelong Loden Nyima is a fully ordained Buddhist monk. He lived at Gampo Abbey from 2009 – 2017 where he practiced intensively, completed Shedra studies, and served in various roles including as a Shastri. He now lives at Drala Mountain Center where he serves as Resident Teacher and a founding faculty member for the Summer Seminar and other programs. He spends a portion of each year in retreat, frequently travels to continue his own dharma education, and can often be seen jogging around the land at DMC. See Loden’s recent articles:

Dhi Good

Dhi Good is a senior teacher in Shambhala, who studied Zen intensively for 10 years. In addition to Shambhala path programs, she teaches mindfulness at work for non-meditators. She earned a masters in Future Studies from University of Houston, and is co-author of Trendbenders: Building Healthy and Vital Communities (2002). Dhi lives in Denver and works as Director of Communications and Marketing for Drala Mountain Center. See Dhi’s recent articles:
