FREE ONLINE EVENT: Settling, Seeing and Spacious Awareness

January 4, 2026

Meditation & Mindfulness, Online Programs

Program Start Date & Time: January 4th, 2026 – 10:00 AM MT

Program End Date & Time: January 4th, 2026 – 1:00 PM MT

Join us for this free half-day online retreat introducing the core practices of “Settling, Seeing, and Spacious Awareness,” a teaching Donald has been offering since 2015. Whether you’re new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner, this retreat is open to all levels and offers a rich opportunity to explore and deepen your practice.

If you’re considering attending Donald’s in-person retreat at Drala Mountain Center from April 17–24, 2026, this online session provides a meaningful preview of the style, tone, and depth of his teaching.

The morning will include short dharma talks, guided meditations, and group discussions. Together, we’ll engage three fundamental forms of practice—considered treasures of the Buddhist tradition:

  1. Settling – Developing stability and concentration to ground the mind.
  2. Seeing – Cultivating deep insight into impermanence, dukkha (suffering), and not-self.
  3. Spacious Awareness – Opening to non-dual, luminous awareness that is always present.

These practices are supported throughout by metta (lovingkindness) and gentle body-based awareness, creating a balanced and embodied approach to awakening.

Testimonials

“Donald is a life-changing mentor and teacher who has walked beside me through the profound joys and sorrows of this life—and everything in between—always gently guiding me back to the path. Drawing from the teachings of the Buddha, the Thai Forest Tradition, Tibetan Mahamudra and Dzogchen, and the wisdom of Catholic Trappist monks in the lineage of Thomas Merton (to name a few), he embodies the practice with skillful means and a heart full of metta.”
–José P.

“In the retreats that I have attended with Donald, he offers a structured and deeply informed teaching that is grounded in the depth of his practice. His teaching is both informational and experiential. He is a deeply committed practitioner who shares  not just his knowledge (which is vast) and his practice,  but ways to deepen and strengthen my own practice.  Donald is a true Dharma Teacher.”
–Lin C.

“Donald Rothberg is a highly experienced and knowledgeable teacher of the Dharma.  He has devoted his life to teaching and learning the Dharma for over 50 years. Donald has all the qualities that make an exceptional teacher: kindness, patience, compassion and respect for practitioners and their Dharma journey. We are so fortunate to have him as a teacher.”
–Liz W.
