
Sophie Maclaren
Sophie Maclaren is a meditation instructor, Buddhist teacher, leadership consultant, and executive coach specialising in the science of human flourishing. She draws on a multi-disciplinary approach combining insights from neuroscience, leadership studies, psychology, and wisdom traditions to enable leaders to perform at their best and flourish in both their personal and professional lives. Since 2012 she has been based at Oxford University’s Said Business School where she lectures on a number of executive and MBA programmes and founded the Mindful Business Leadership course, and the Compassion in Politics course.
Sophie co-founded and directed europe’s leading mindfulness in the workplace consultancy for ten years, and recently co-founded the Wisdom and AI network. Sophie works globally with clients in the public and private sector including the UK Parliament, the European Commission, Formula 1, Unilever, HSBC, Jaguar Land Rover, Magic Circle law firms, the OECD, Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and top tier consulting firms. Sophie has a lifelong meditation practice, having studied intensely with Tibetan lamas since her youth. She designs and leads human flourishing retreats customised to meet the challenges and opportunities of senior leaders in specialised fields including AI, government, legal, and finance. Her passion is helping leaders reach their greatest potential and flourish both at work and in life. She has been fortunate to learn from a wide range of brilliant minds- from Tibetan lamas, to the exceptional leaders she coaches, as well as her colleagues and students at Oxford, and many people met on travels and pilgrimages.
