Maggie Steele
Maggie Steele (she/her) is a parent, an educator, author of How I Got My S!*t Together, a licensed school social worker and the Head of Training for Peace in Schools.
Maggie has been working with teens since 2008 and since joining Peace in Schools in 2016, she has designed curricula for and taught the for-credit, elective Mindful Studies course to hundreds of teens. She supported Peace in Schools in developing adult programming in 2017 and has since designed, managed and facilitated in-depth mindfulness-based professional development trainings that focus on social emotional learning, suicide prevention, anti-oppressive practices and trauma-informed approaches when working with youth.
A passionate advocate for mental health and wellbeing, Maggie is dedicated to co-creating spaces where young people and adults feel seen, heard, and welcomed. Maggie was introduced to mindfulness in 2003 and has been practicing ever since. As a survivor of trauma who has struggled with suicidal ideation, she has since dedicated her life to supporting adolescents in cultivating self-compassion, self-love and an unshakable knowing that their being here matters.
