About the Retreat

We invite you to practice the Vajrayogini sadhana in the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya under the guidance of the Dorje Loppon, Lodro Dorje.
The Loppon will guide us through the practice and give talks and instruction, with special emphasis on the essential qualities of Vajrayogini, such as the five wisdoms which transmute neurosis into awakening, and the sampannakrama instructions of direct experience of the mahamudra nature of mind.

Participants must begin at the beginning and attend the entire retreat. Space is limited, and early registration is recommended.

Who is this retreat for? 

This is for practitioners who have received the Vajrayogini empowerment and have the Vajrayogini Sadhana by Tongwa Tonden, Karmapa VI. This retreat is especially for practitioners who are familiar with the ritual aspects and want to deepen their connection with the essence of the practice. Whether Vajrayogini is your main practice, or you simply wish to reconnect after a gap, the experiential nature of the Dorje Loppon’s instructions, as well as connecting with the Vajrayogini practice in an intensive environment, will empower whatever your current main practice is. As the mother of all the Buddhas, as coemergence itself, Vajrayogini is always beckoning us to our own awakening.

The retreat will be held in the upper levels of the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, a space rich with blessings and uniquely suited to such a retreat.

Retreat Faculty

Dorje Loppön Lodrö Dorje

Dorje Loppön Lodrö Dorje was head of the Office of Three Yana Studies from 1976 through 1990, which facilitated the meditation practice and study of the three yanas for Vajradhatu (now Shambhala). He was designated Dorje Loppon in 1985, with reference to his responsibility for working with Vajrayana students. Lodro continues to support practitioners of the Kagyü and Nyingma traditions and promotes the Vajrayana and Shambhala practices as mutually enhancing.

Lodging

We have several accommodations to choose from during checkout.

Tents
12′ x 14′ tents have two twin beds, two bookcases and a hanging clothes rack. Each campground offers a shared bathhouse. Summer platform tents are available from late May through early September. A tent can be rented as a single (without a roommate) or a double (with a roommate).

Dormitories
Rooms with beds for up to 7-8 people. Gender-segregated with men in their own dorm and women in another. The dorms use a shared bathroom down the hall, which is also equipped with shower stalls.

Monk Rooms
A cost-effective option for participants looking for indoor, solitary lodging, but who don’t mind using a shared bathroom or are looking for a more affordable retreat solution. These rooms are in the same hall as the Ridgen Dormitories, but offer more privacy than the dorms. In addition to a bed, bedding, a private room and closet, the monk rooms also have a large window and a desk and desk chair for added comfort.

Single and Double Rooms
The perfect choice for a retreat where you want both your own space and your own bathroom. Each room offers a little more space, a dresser and closet, and a 3/4s bathroom (toilet, sink, and shower, no bathtub) attached to each room.
