About the Retreat

We are delighted to welcome Adam Kane back to Drala Mountain Center to lead Fully Being, a weekend retreat exploring a practical path to greater presence, resilience, and authentic well-being. For this retreat we’re adding an optional fourth day for those who want to stay, practice, and go deeper into the Fully Being teachings with Adam.

As Tsoknyi Rinpoche’s primary translator and a senior Fully Being facilitator, Adam brings a unique relationship in presenting these profound teachings with warmth, clarity, and humor.

Whether you are encountering these teachings for the first time or returning after studying with Tsoknyi Rinpoche or Adam,  this retreat offers fresh insight and direct experience. The practices are designed to meet you where you are, allowing the teachings to unfold in new ways as your own understanding matures. Each time we revisit these teachings, they meet us differently in a way that makes this retreat equally meaningful for returning participants and those encountering Fully Being for the first time.

What to Expect

Over the course of this weekend, Adam will guide participants through meditation practice, experiential exercises and discussion. You will be invited to reconnect with the ‘four natural homes’ of a healthy human being:

  1. Grounded Energy — the home of the body
  2. Essence Love — the home of the feeling world
  3. Natural Clarity — the home of the mind
  4. The Mere I — the home of wisdom

During this retreat you can expect:

  • Experiential and interactive learning
  • Clear, concise presentations of the Fully Being path
  • Many short, practical guided meditations
  • Time for questions and group discussion
  • Quiet time in nature to deepen your own direct experience

Why Attend

This retreat is for newcomers and experienced meditators alike. Newcomers will receive an introduction to a comprehensive and embodied spiritual path, while experienced meditators will deepen their practice of embodiment, awareness and insight. 

Practices like vase breathing and handshake practice will guide to drop unnecessary tension and over-thinking. These practices will allow you to rediscover essence love (the basic “okay”-ness at the heart of the feeling world), recognize natural clarity, and explore the “mere I”–a playful, functional, and healthy sense of self.

Program Schedule

Day 1

Friday, December 11th – Welcome to the Retreat
Registration takes place from 2 pm to 5 pm. If you arrive early, feel free to relax, or explore on your own during this time. A brief health and safety orientation will take place at 5:30.

Vision of Fully Being
After dinner, we will discuss the vision of the Fully Being path, have an opening circle, and set our intentions for the retreat, followed by an evening meditation.

Day 2

Saturday, December 12th – Natural Homes 1 and 2
We’ll begin the day with personal practice followed by breakfast. Throughout the day, there will be time for meditating, learning new skills, and group discussion.

Day 3

Sunday, December 13th – Natural Homes 3 and 4
Our final day starts again with personal practice. We will spend the morning and afternoon in meditation and discussion. We will close at the end of the day for those who are not participating in Day 4.

Day 4

Monday, December 14th – Going Deeper
Join us for this optional additional day of Going Deeper with Adam. The day will include meditation, group discussion, and opportunities for individual meditation instruction. This additional day allows more time to explore questions, deepen our experience of the Fully Being practices, and integrate what we’ve discovered throughout the weekend. We will close the day at 4:00 pm for travel back home.The day begins with various mindfulness practices followed by time for relaxation after lunch. The afternoon consists of meditation practices.

Who is this retreat for?
This retreat is for new and experienced meditators who want to connect with the Fully Being path — a comprehensive and embodied spiritual path with roots in Tibetan Buddhism.

Do I need prior experience?
No prior experience is necessary.

Will the retreat be strenuous?
Not strenuous, this will be a playful and relaxed retreat, but still engages profound topics and practices.

Will I learn how to meditate?
Yes, you will learn several practical techniques of meditation.

Will I get chances to ask questions?
Yes, this teaching style is interactive and there will be much time devoted to question and answer and discussion.

Lodging

We have several accommodations to choose from during checkout.
All options include our healthy meals and drinks. Inc V, VG, GF.

Dormitories
Rooms with beds for up to 7-8 people. Gender-segregated with men in their own dorm and women in another. The dorms use a shared bathroom down the hall, which is also equipped with shower stalls.

Monk Rooms
A cost-effective option for participants looking for indoor, solitary lodging, but who don’t mind using a shared bathroom or are looking for a more affordable retreat solution. These rooms are in the same hall as the Ridgen Dormitories, but offer more privacy than the dorms. In addition to a bed, bedding, a private room and closet, the monk rooms also have a large window and a desk and desk chair for added comfort.

Single and Double Rooms
The perfect choice for a retreat where you want both your own space and your own bathroom. Each room offers a little more space, a dresser and closet, and a 3/4s bathroom (toilet, sink, and shower, no bathtub) attached to each room.

Junior Suite
Our Lodge Junior Suites include a queen-size bed topped by a cozy comforter, a desk, dresser, closet and private bath with bathtub, plus a sitting area.
