Program Developer Drala Mountain Center

Position Overview

The Program Developer, Retreats & Online Experiences is responsible for cultivating relationships and developing retreat and online programs that align with the contemplative mission of Drala Mountain Center. Working in collaboration with the Manager of Program Development, this role builds and maintains relationships with meditation teachers, contemplative practitioners, educators, and facilitators to bring meaningful programs to life both on land and online.

This position oversees the full lifecycle of programs, from ideation and development through execution and post-program review, ensuring a high-quality experience for teachers and participants while maintaining strong internal coordination with marketing, guest services, and delivery on the land. The role requires a balance of relationship management, project coordination, operational execution, and strategic thinking to support both in-person retreats and a growing online presence.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Teacher Relationships

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with meditation teachers, yoga instructors, contemplative educators, artists, and retreat leaders.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design retreats and programs, including themes, structure, and schedules.
  • Work with teachers and the Manager of Program Development to establish tuition pricing and compensation structures.
  • Ensure programs are financially viable and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain consistent, professional communication with teachers throughout the full program lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned teachers, guiding programs from concept through successful execution.
  • Coordinate all steps required to bring a program on land, including:
    • Contract completion and alignment with Drala policies
      Program scope, size, and scheduling within the annual calendar
    • Creation and accuracy of registration pages and program details
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to support promotion and positioning of programs, including:
    • Collaborating on marketing strategy and timing
    • Supporting teachers in their own outreach efforts
    • Collecting and organizing content for marketing use
  • Coordinate with on-land staff to ensure smooth program delivery and logistics.
  • Participate in on-site meetings as needed to support program success.
  • Conduct post-program debriefs with teachers and internal teams.

Online Program Development & Execution

  • Support the growth and development of Drala’s online program offerings and overall digital presence.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design and schedule online programs, including one-time offerings, multi-session series, and ongoing programs.
  • Manage all aspects of online program execution, including:
    • Scheduling and calendar coordination
    • Program page creation, including titles, descriptions, and presentation
    • Participant communication before and after programs
      Feedback collection and evaluation
  • Serve as or coordinate with the Zoom host/tech to ensure smooth delivery, including:
    • Managing technical logistics and participant experience
      Maintaining a professional and welcoming online presence
  • Work with the team to develop and implement an effective online program strategy.

Cross-Department Coordination

  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Operations, Guest Services, and Finance to ensure seamless program delivery.
  • Monitor registration trends and communicate insights to leadership and marketing.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and ongoing planning conversations.
  • Coordinate internal communication to ensure alignment across departments.

Outreach & Growth (as needed)

  • Support outreach efforts to organizations, businesses, and universities for potential group retreats and facility rentals.
  • Help generate leads and pass qualified opportunities to the Rentals Coordinator.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with a professional and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of teachers and partners.
    Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage timelines effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to track multiple moving pieces.
  • Comfort learning and using new systems, platforms, and processes.
  • Proficiency with standard computer systems and scheduling tools; experience with Zoom and online program delivery required.
  • Experience with Google Suite and booking software preferred
  • Ability to remain flexible, adaptable, and solution-oriented in a dynamic environment.

  • Staying or Living at DMC

  • We anticipate that most incoming employees and volunteers will be housed indoors. Many of our indoor housing options will require living with one or more staff members in separate bedrooms. Some incoming staff may be housed in canvas tents from early June through early September. Employees are charged $100.00 per month for housing. Do you understand our current housing situation?
  • Your assigned housing may require you to share a gendered bathhouse with other community members and guests. We also have a private gender neutral restroom available for showering. Are you willing to share a gendered bathhouse with curtained showers?
  • Participation in DMC's meal plan is required for all employees who live in DMC-provided housing. The meal plan costs $350.00 per month and typically includes three prepared meals per day, coffee, tea, fruit, and snacks. Meat is offered at some meals. Vegetarian, vegan, and wheat-free options are available at each meal. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate any other dietary needs. Employees and volunteers do not have use of a kitchen for preparing their own meals. Do you understand our meal options?

  • During the term of your employment or volunteer service, DMC may provide mandatory training sessions on topics including diversity, equity, and inclusion; sexual harassment; and ethical conduct, including those that address personal and societal oppression, power dynamics, and skillful bystander intervention.
