Program Developer

Drala Mountain Center is a contemplative retreat center that hosts retreats and training programs for participants from around the world. As part of our business development team, the Program Developer is responsible for filling DMC’s calendar with offerings aligning with our mission of bringing people together to experience wisdom.

Summary of Position

Drala Mountain Center is seeking a full-time Program Developer. The program developer is a member of the Business Development team and is responsible for seeking out and servicing hosted programs based on established goals. Responsibilities including researching and connecting with presenters who fit the DMC mission, contracting and scheduling the program, serving as liaison between DMC staff and presenter and ensuring the successful execution of year round programs. A key responsibility of this position is to develop new program initiatives, working with dharma, spiritual, and secular mindfulness organizations nationally. The Program Developer reports to the Director of Business Development.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

Fill DMC’s year around program schedule with appropriate hosted programs, working closely with other program and rental developers. This is accomplished by:

  • Actively seeking out and inviting new vision and mission-consistent presenters to offer programs at DMC based on established goals. This is a sales position in addition to a program support position.
  • Working with past/current presenters to book programs based on established goals, assist to develop program content and determine details of programs.
  • Be a spokesperson for all that DMC has to offer to hosted program presenters, accurately communicating DMC’s mission, lodging options, facilities, amenities, and date availability.
  • Servicing programs already underway.
  • Determine availability for booking and prevent scheduling conflicts.
  • Create accurate and complete hosted program contracts in a timely manner with presenters utilizing Tripleseat platform and ensuring that they are signed within 5 days of issue.
  • Based on contract terms and communications with presenters, distribute scheduled program information details to other DMC departments.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Department, initiate the development or updating of any needed marketing materials to publicize and promote programs.
  • Maintain timely communication with all presenters throughout the contracting process, and from time of contract signing until the program begins.
  • Manage presenter relationships with the goal of gaining repeat business.
  • Act as a liaison between presenters and various departments at DMC including program coordination, program support, guest services, lodging, kitchen, etc. from the time of contract up to and including the program.
  • Work closely with DMC on-site program coordinators regarding any issues related to presenters’ needs that arise before and during programs.
  • Organize and maintain program development files within Google Workspace
  • Enter and maintain program-specific data in Tripleseat.
  • Utilize Asana and/or other project management tools as needed.

Experience, Qualifications and Education

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in an area of study related to DMC’s spectrum of programming preferred.
  • Two + years experience in program development/sales at retreat center preferred.
  • Creative, innovative thinker who can hold a large vision while paying attention to detail.
  • Work well independently yet within the structure of an organization with multiple channels of communication.
  • Detail oriented, proactive, and patient team player.
  • Ability to track many projects over time.
  • Enjoys working independently on a wide range of tasks.
  • Self-starter taking initiative to troubleshoot challenges.
  • Willing and able to take direction, and can be part of a team that is engaged in a dynamic process.
  • Has an understanding of and commitment to DMC’s mission and values.
  • Has knowledge of Google suites.
  • Experience using project management tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $22 per hour for full-time (40+ hours per week) remote work.
  • Salary adjustment if living onsite at DMC.
  • Participation in DMC’s Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Leave program (estimated 10 days of PTO accrued in first year of employment, 12 days in second year, 15 days in third and fourth years, 20 days in fifth and subsequent years).
