A Meditation Retreat on The Six Realms of Existence

March 5–8, 2026

Buddhist Path, Meditation & Mindfulness, On Land Retreats

Program Start Date & Time: 5:30 pm Orientation on March 5th

Program End Date & Time: 12:30 pm on March 8th

Drala Mountain Center is delighted to welcome back Valerie Lorig and Tara Mitchell.

In this program we will explore a traditional Buddhist teaching called the Six Realms of Existence. The six realms represent different psychological and emotional states that we experience throughout our lifetime, a day, or even within an hour. We move through them fluidly, often unaware, which causes pain and confusion. Studying these six states help us understand how we can relate to ourselves and world around us with greater awareness. Through meditation practice, contemplation, experiential exercises, and study we will explore ways that help free us from the cyclic state of existence called samsara.

Who is this retreat for?

Open to both beginners and seasoned practitioners.

What will participants get out of this retreat?

This retreat will include talks by the presenters, sitting meditation, discussion groups, contemplations, and experiential exercises. Drawing from the wisdom of Trungpa Rinpoche, Khandro Rinpoche, Sam Bercholz and others, we will explore how we traverse the god, hungry ghost, animal, hell, and jealous god realms, only to find the human realm is the most fortunate to awaken from.
