Writing from Presence

February 27–March 1, 2026

Creative Expression, Meditation & Mindfulness, On Land Retreats

Program Start Date & Time: February 27th, 2026  |  7:00 pm

Program End Date & Time: March 1st, 2026  |  12:30 pm

Winter, with its serene stillness and enveloping darkness, invites us into a deep space of introspection and creativity. Join us for a weekend retreat where meditation meets the practice of writing, guided by author and spiritual teacher Caverly Morgan.

Imagine crisp mountain air, snow-draped trees, and quiet fields stretching beneath wintry skies as the backdrop for delving into contemplative writing practices that transcend conventional boundaries. Experience the profound support of channeling what lies beyond the ego, inviting it gently onto the page. Together, we’ll drop into deep listening and explore the boundless landscape of creative expression.

This retreat isn’t about producing a finished piece; it’s about journeying beneath the conditioned mind and attuning to the voice that emerges from the depths of your being—from the depths of presence. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or simply curious about putting pen to paper, you’ll find an evocative invitation to explore this open and mysterious landscape. Through meditation and periods of silence, you’ll be supported in allowing creativity to flow freely and authentically.

This retreat will include:

  1. Meditation
  2. Writing exercises/prompts that support cultivating a relationship with spirit/the divine
  3. Silent time to explore what’s beyond the “rules” of conditioned writing structure
  4. Support in channeling what’s beyond the ego, inviting it onto the page
  5. Relational (social) Dharma practice that supports us in recognizing what veils truth
  6. Time for solitude

The backdrop of this retreat will be a hybrid of silence and relational (social) time.

Program Perquisites: Recommended but not required, is reading Caverly’s book, The Heart of Who We Are:Realizing Freedom Together.

We look forward to welcoming you into this meditative weekend of winter beauty, deep listening and writing from presence.

Testimonials

“Caverly is a loving wise teacher who has done her work. She contains multitudes, presenting to the practitioner the lesson called for in the moment, be it gentle or firm. The strength and agility with which she engages in this dance of loving awareness is beautiful to behold. She is a lioness and I am so grateful for her work!”

     —Rosie, Teacher

“Caverly is gifted teacher of the dharma and meditation. I met Caverly when she co-led a week-long retreat I attended. Her decades of study of Zen and other contemplative practices shone as she beautifully explained concepts that often defy words. Caverly was exquisitely attuned to retreatants; she offered support as emotions bubbled up, and skillfully fostered an intimate and transformative connection among us. I hold Caverly in high regard. There is much I can learn from her and I hope to get that opportunity again.”

     —Chris, Judge

“I am profoundly moved and changed by my time with Caverly and her work. She is a gifted teacher and listener, and able to quickly and effortlessly get to the heart of a person, a moment, a discussion, a problem, or the dynamics of our world. Her guidance and teachings helped me make sense of things I have been grappling with for most of my life, and I left my time with her with a new and deep confidence in how I show up in the world.”

     —Emily, writer and filmmaker
