Overview
The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, with a strong emphasis on bookkeeping, reconciliations, and monthly close processes, along with expertise in financial software and general ledger management.
The Controller plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial data and providing reliable information to support organizational decision-making. The ideal candidate is an experienced non profit accountant with a strong grasp of GAAP, internal controls, and fund accounting.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and SOX regulations.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, including account analysis and reconciliation.
- Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to enhance internal controls.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, providing insights into financial performance and variances.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives through financial analysis.
- Monitor cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring timely reporting of financial results.
- Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a corporate environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage) and financial software applications.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting practices and reconciliation processes.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and IFRS standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
