Learn to meditate with Buddhist monk Loden Nyima!

This program has been canceled.

Why Learn to Meditate?

Meditation is a simple, natural, healthy activity that absolutely anyone can do.  You do not need to be interested in a religious path in order to learn and benefit from meditation. Meditation has survived for thousands of years because it works. Your own peace of mind is your birthright, and everyone has the capacity to connect with this peaceful aspect of mind.

In meditation, we learn to hold, embrace, and accept ourselves and all the ups and downs of life with gentle, loving, trust and strength. This can be an especially helpful tool in modern times when so many of us feel stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, or just in need of some TLC. Even more, meditation can be an important source of grounding, healing, resiliency, strength, and inspiration. The practice of meditation and learning to relate with our own mind can be the basis for how we engage with others, and a catalyst for our own growth and awakening.

What Will I Learn?

This online, four-part series is open to absolutely anyone who would like to learn to meditate for any reason. Each Sunday session starts at 6pm and runs no more than 90 minutes. Participants should plan to attend all four sessions. In this class you will learn and practice:

    • How to Meditate
    • Working with Stress and Difficult Emotions
    • On-the-Spot Methods You Can Use in Life
    • Supporting Yourself with Daily Meditation

Loden is available after each class for questions and dialogue with participants.

What Comes Next?

This is a stand-alone offering with no strings attached. While Loden is an ordained Buddhist, this class is a non-secular offering that focuses on working skillfully with one’s mind through time-tested meditation practices. If you decide you would like to go further after the Learn to Meditate class, we offer a Path of Meditation with regular weekend and week-long retreats, as well as one-on-one support online whenever you’d like. Supportive resources such as articles, videos and podcasts are added periodically.

Registration will close two hours before the start of the program.

Shambhala Mountain Center and our presenters are working together to make online program scholarships available. Our hope is that through our scholarship program, those who would not otherwise be able to participate can benefit. We do not want finances to be a barrier.

At the same time, these are challenging times for nonprofits, and Shambhala Mountain Center is no exception. Every dollar helps us to weather the pandemic and to support the well-being of our teachers, staff and the land that our retreat center rests on. Thank you for supporting our mission to bring people together to experience wisdom through your presence in our programming and by contributing at the highest level that you are able to. We are in this together.

For individuals who would not otherwise be able to attend this program, we warmly encourage you to apply for a scholarship by February 24. We will do our best to accommodate as many requests as possible. Thank you for your interest in this program.

Participants should plan to attend every session, however, in the event of an inability to attend a session, recordings will be provided to registered participants and viewable until the next session. Participants are expected to watch the recording prior to the next session.
